Welocalize, a provider of integrated globalization services, has released GlobalSight 7.1 - the new open-source version of the translation management system. The open-source product completed a successful beta testing phase in December 2008. The release primarily targets two user groups: global, enterprise companies and language service providers.

GlobalSight is a translation management system that provides a scalable translation management platform specifically designed for companies to translate, manage and deliver global content. The product helps automate the tasks associated with the creation, translation, review, storage and management of business content and materials, from Web sites and software, to user manuals and marketing materials. With zero license fees, the open-source GlobalSight TMS provides a low-risk, flexible and sustainable globalization solution, says Welocalize.

GlobalSight provides a centralized and SRX-compliant Translation Memory (TM) for optimized content reuse and a configurable workflow engine. It integrates the entire global content value chain through adaptors for content repositories and Web services API for external business systems, while permitting partnerships with multiple language vendors. GlobalSight also provides a scalable, in-house platform for language service providers to manage the multitude of translation projects processed every day.
